The Gun behid the Woman: Best crochet hook for amigurumi..:)

When I started crocheting on summer 2009, I never thought about the 'quality' of crochet hook that I used.
I used the most common crochet hook that available in departement store ( I bought in Big W). At that time I even didnot know where craft shop or wool shop was...:P. This is my first crochet hook.

Then  I made dolls intensively in summer 2010, I was so absorbed in crocheting. My preparation on my first dolls to be in market. The zoo series. I made more than 20 finger puppets. My index finger was hurt and scratched. I noticed the number craved on the hook made my finger scratch. And the thin pipe for holding is not ergonomic. I tried to find another hook with good holder. I found this in department store:

But it was broken on the first doll I made.

I hold the hook like hold a pen. Somepeople use knife style to hold crochet hook.
The distance from the tip of this blue hook to the handle is longer compared the later hook that I use.

Then I found the hook on one of the blog they use the ergonomic crochet hook. Clover. I bought via e-bay store.  I made again many dolls intensively...It does not hurt and scrath on my hand. It has better grip.

Then I tried again the bamboo grip ( same design with clover) and alumunium tip. It has good handle, but  the alumunium tip is not as smooth as clover hook when grap the yarn. But again the problem arouse, tip was detached from the handle. It was able to be fixed by using PVA glue but not for longer time.

So far the clover hook is the best crochet hook that I ever used. So If you want to start crochet amigurumi, you will be no regret investing in good quality hook...:). Happy crocheting!
