What about Me?  I was single again without my friend Lyneete. She decided not come again in community market.  I am thingking to change my strategy on selling my dolls either...ehhhmmmmm later I will think about it. Let continue my reportage on Platypus festival..
I had to extend my table but I didnt so many dolls. These stall display was on Early March when I was doing only with my handmade dolls. Could you spot my children?

So 3 days before the festival I thought hard to make my stall looked full.
So I planned to display my batik fabric collection, pull out ugly liner from my basket and change it, framed pictures, and luckyly my friend from BALI, lend me her bracellets to show up in my stall. Yuppy it was fulll....:).

Yesterday my loyal customer came. It was the third time he/his family came. He has a lovely son, he bought my little red riding hood, wolf and lion finger puppets. He said his baby really like the finger puppets and eventough it washed several times It is still in good shape. He bought my FIRST Rattle Rocket...:). Hope your baby like it toooo....Then my owlies were popular tooo...:). Small, Simple , Beautiful...:). Hard to resist...:).
A litte girl finally bought my BIG APPLE...See the big FRUIT is so lovely to be hugged! I had my girl hugged the PEAR softies last year..:)

What else then? A lot of conversation on that day. I love people came to talk and share with me.
Furthermore something special than usual market that I reckoned yesterday.  I saw many people dressed so special. So lovely to see many people in their styles. I saw Vintage, Gypsy, Country and other styles...:). Even there was a man with a cowboy hat and brided hair...Sooooo stylish! A girl with fairy dress...:). A young lady with her fluttery skirt...:). She must be made it by herself. A lot of peole with their statement handmade-bags/skirt/dress/hat! Oww..oww...so stunning! See you on next festival...:). Lets your self to BLOOM...

What is inside the baby doll?

Have you ever been curious about what's inside the doll?
I finally did 'the surgery' for the doll...hooo...hooo...
This is what I found inside a Disney baby doll...

Below closer look...polyfill finer then pellet pouch, I hope you can see from the mesh fabric there are plastic pellets.

And this rattle insert!

Like what I mentioned in previous post I made pellet puch for my matryoska doll. This is how I prepare..
1. Make  circle from calico fabric.

2. Take 2 pieces of circle fabric and double sew with sewing machine and leave 2cm opening to insert the pellets.

3. Insert the pellets

3. Double hand stiched.

I prepared several pouches, so that I dont need to go back and forth to sew. I made the rectangular pouches for the matryoska but then I made them round for these cute tiny owls...:). I prefer to make circle because most of the doll's are basically rounded/circle.

The green and pink is the owl prototype that I keep for my reference. The new owls are the brown and pink. Do you see any improvement? Yes, the owls stand well compared the previous one that I made. That's improvement or 'kaizen' in Japanese word...:)

These 3 matryoska dolls go to the market...:)

Slow but sure...finally I made these 3 matryoska dolls...:). They will be on market tomorrow..:).

I filled the dolls with polyfill fiber and pellet. The pellet has been inserted in calico pouch and double stiched. I believe it will be save for children. The dolls got stabilize with this method, they stand well. Mum also can use it for pin cushion!

Im bit slower because children started going to school on February. I also made this rocket prototype...:). I want to make it with rattle inside. I couldnt find the rattle insert in SPOTLIGHT, so I have to get it via ebay. Hoping the rockets will be launch next month!

Visual Merchandising Study Case...:)

February Market was the first market in 2012. This time also the first time to be single
in the booth. My friend was unwell. It was nice morning when we set up the booth at 8 am.
I like to arrange and change the look of my booth everytime. Look at me I was so serious...:).
It is visual merchandising study...:P

The wind was still mild in the morning. But sometimes it blows a bit harder...as shown in my table cloth.
I knew from forecast it was going to be big gust in the afternoon ( after 12pm). My plan was I will open my booth
before that the strong wind comes. At least I had 3 hours I thought.

I had set the sturdy pull-toy ( red one), then the ladder, but unsure about the little chair.
The gust was getting harder on 11 pm. Maybe it was 25-30km/h ?
It blowed girl dolls in my right side. The 2 fishes on the top rack were blown too.
At that time my hubby and the children went to Diamond creek to buy newspapers.
I struggled holding the rack and the wicker basket.

Then I moved slowly to put the ladder down, opened my container and put the dolls one by one on the container.
All the dolls saved on the container...:). Safe and sound. Hurray!
Hoping there will be no such a strong wind anymore in the next and next market...!
But anyway lesson learnt.... I should make my display more STURDY not only nice to see...:).

Hair-do crochet girl doll...

I always want to make girl or boy doll...But  as you noticed they usually came with hats..:).
Once I tried making the doll with the hair with no hat. My children called her " Beefy".

I remembered I made Jelly fish dolls.

Based on that curly I made the hair for my girl doll. This is my first doll with the curly hair:

Then I kept continuing with other summer color....:). I heard that this year tangerine is favourite color..

So the other girl doll is coming with the tangerine color...:). How about Carrot color?
Look.. they are so sweet as fruit and vegie ...:).

The skirts have been modified into tier skirts....:).
Let's name them....How about Tangy, Browny, and Karly?
